Time Conscious

Ecclesiastes 3:1

‘To every thing there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven’

Time is our most precious commodity.

It rules us, literally.

I love a lot of things in my life:

my home, my pets, my family, my friends, and my quiet space, just to name a few,

but

time is the one thing in my life that I can never get enough of.

This weekend I became time conscious.

As I watched a child, who was no more than three, learn to snow ski,

I suddenly became aware of how quickly time will pass her by, how

time

passes all of us by.

In the blink of an eye,

Poof!

It’s gone, and so are we.

As I grow older, I am learning to ignore the Mickey Mouse stuff.

You know,

the things that after they are said and done don’t matter anyway.

So,

today I am asking God to make me more time conscious.

To put more people and things

in my life that will slow me down. I cannot stop time, none of us can,

but

we can become more time conscious, don’t you think?

Dear God:

Thank you for putting distractions in my life, like

a child who is learning to ski.

Thank you for the time that has already passed – time that teaches and time that heals.

Thank you for the season of time that is yet to be given,

whether

minutes, hours, days, or years.

Thank you for allowing me to be

Time Conscious!

I am,

your grateful servant.

Amen
